The
Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve was established in June 2019 and covers 11 mountain municipalities in Friuli Venezia Giulia:
Artegna, Chiusaforte, Dogna, Gemona del Friuli, Lusevera, Moggio Udinese, Montenars, Resia, Resiutta, Taipana, and Venzone.
This extraordinary territory, which covers over 700 km², is a mosaic of biodiversity and ancient cultures, where encounters with rare species of flora and fauna are not exceptions but a constant reality of everyday life.
Hiking trails suitable for all levels, museums that tell the history and traditions of the peoples who have animated and still animate these lands, natural environments in which to immerse yourself to admire the biodiversity, and peaks to reach to let your gaze wander beyond the border.
