Description
An international exhibition marking the opening of
Pordenone Italian Capital of Culture 2027. Produced exclusively for the city by the
Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona and curated by Véronique Dupas, the exhibition offers an immersive journey into the creative universe of one of the great masters of twentieth-century art.
Paintings, sculptures, graphic works and artists’ books explore the dialogue between poetry, objects and matter, revealing Miró’s inventive freedom and his constant spirit of experimentation.
The exhibition brings together works of exceptional significance, offering visitors the opportunity to discover materials and artworks that are rarely accessible, including a group of works never before exhibited and drawn from
Joan Miró’s private collection, which were donated by the artist to the Catalan foundation.
The title
Joan Miró: The Poetry of Objects and Matter reflects the structure of the exhibition itself.
Poetry expresses the profound relationship between art, language and imagination through a continuous dialogue of signs, forms and evocative imagery. The object becomes the centre of a poetic process of transformation, where everyday elements are reinvented to create unexpected images and figures. Matter, in turn, reveals the artist’s remarkable experimental freedom and his constant search for new techniques, surfaces and expressive possibilities.
The exhibition offers a fresh perspective on Miró’s creative workshop, a place of continuous experimentation where painting, printmaking, sculpture and poetry intersect and influence one another, transcending the traditional boundaries of artistic language. The exhibition journey is enriched by photographs, audiovisual materials and an original soundtrack composed especially for the occasion.
Hosted in the newly renovated spaces of the
Harry Bertoia Gallery, the exhibition opens the cultural programme of
Pordenone Italian Capital of Culture 2027.
The exhibition is promoted by the
Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the
Municipality of Pordenone and
