Last ski descents at Sella Nevea, between Italy and Slovenia

I have been away from the ski slopes and my mountains this winter but all in all the abundant snowfalls and the cold climate have rewarded me the same by giving me some of the finest skiing(not because of my skill, of course, but for the wonderful days).

At the ski resort of Sella Nevea, from mid-March is the best season for skiing, in my opinion, and its lifts and slopes are the last to close in Friuli Venezia Giulia, and rightly so.

Crystal-clear days, snow that still “holds”, completely illuminated slopes not only on the Slovenian side (yes, because here you can ski back and forth between Italy and Slovenia: you can go all the way down to Bovec on your own legs).

At 8.45 am, when the gondola lift opens, I am ready; I reach the top and I enjoy a coffee and pan dolce at the Gilberti Hut, which is very popular in summer too and also with non-skiers: sunbathing on the terrace on these days and with this climate is a real luxury.

This time I want to focus only on the Italian side and I ski as much as possible, one descent after another while the air is still a little biting and the slope perfect.

If you have not yet stored your skis in the cellar for the year there are these last weeks to take advantage of: they close the season on April 25th.

But I recommend a visit in the summer too: last year, at the now famous “No Borders Music Festival I went to see the Vinicio Capossela. I love concerts but this one, high in the mountains, with the singer in the centre of the Conca del Prevala and many fans all around in harmony and peace, was a goosebumps experience, pure pleasure! I'm undecided whether it's more of a thrill skiing and the winter view, or summer. And you? What do you think?!
