These photos bring me back to March 2017...
The snowfall at the beginning of the week had given some hope to ski mountaineering fans of the Friuli mountains, who were suffering because of the lack of snow. The fresh air that blew from the north had consolidated the slopes creating an ideal situation for a climb to the forcella Busas di Giaf, a classic ski-mountaineering outing in the Friulian Dolomites.
At 6.30, our group of three climbed with our skis on our shoulders to an altitude of 1500 metres, where the snow cover was continuous and with a crust that could bear our weight in the sun and floury instead towards the north. Some low clouds over on the valley provided a contour of light in a very blue and clear sky.
At the top, surrounded by the most beautiful peaks of the Friulian Dolomites, there was just enough time for some photographs before enjoying a long descent made a bit difficult here and there because of some frozen sections. The descent of the Valle di Giaf ended at eight with a good coffee in the square in Forni di Sopra.
