The Rilke trail, a stroll amidst cliffs and castles

The Rilke trail, one of the most exciting and accessible paths in the Triestine Carso, starts from Sistiana and leads to the Castle of Duino.

It offers unspoilt nature and history with breathtaking views over the Adriatic, which cannot leave anyone indifferent. The path is about two kilometres long and is a panoramic trail in a nature reserve of woodland and Mediterranean scrub; from here you can admire the Castle of Duino from a splendid viewpoint  as well as the remains of the earlier Castle of Duino of the eleventh century.
