Walking with animals in Tramonti di Sotto

If you are in Trieste, you absolutely must go for a walk along the Rilke trail, a path about 3 km long between Duino and Sistiana, nestled between the raw and fragrant nature of the Carso and the wonderful gulf of Trieste. In my opinion, the best time to take a stroll there is in spring, when the sun is not too hot yet and nature is awakening and giving the best of itself in terms of colours and scents.
The Rilke trail (which is named after the German poet who wrote his famous elegies in Duino castle) is very popular with my children: they can climb on rocks, viewpoints to climb to and admire boats in the middle of the sea, benches to rest on in the shade and maybe have a snack, and military posts to explore.
Of course, you must keep an eye on them at all times, because in some areas the path could be dangerous, but with the right precautions it is really worth walking along and admiring its spectacular landscapes between the Carso and castles overlooking the sea. Unfortunately, it is not accessible with a stroller, apart from a short section on the Duino side, which is accessible also to the disabled.
Within a few weeks, I know they will be asking me to go back, so I’m sure we’ll be walking along the Rilke trail very soon!
