The
historiographic centre of Sauris includes parchments, furnishings, wall hangings, sacred goldsmithing and votive offerings as well as nativity scene dating from the
15th to the 19th century, discovered in St. Oswald's Church (who was king of Northumberland and the patron saint called upon to guard against the plague).
The objects, which are evidence to the
community of Sauris' creed, its economic and social history as well as the German language are kept in a room of the rectory which has been turned into a visitors centre.
