Travelling in the late 19th and early 20th centuries
How did people travel during the Belle Époque? The extraordinary collection at this museum has plenty to tell us: 44 historical carriages dating back to the 19th century, restored with the utmost respect for the materials used at that time. Some of the carriages belonged to the royal and noble families of Europe, whereas others even come from overseas.
The collection includes many different types of carriages: the ruralSpider carriage, gala carriages and leisure carriages, Omnibus, Brougham and Mail coaches. Some of them “drawn” by nine full-size horses, made of plaster and papier-mâché, with accessories and harnesses.
The museum also exhibits a collection of toys used between the 18th and 20th centuries.
