Rifugio Marinelli is located on a "terrace" at the foot of Mount Coglians from which there is a breathtaking 180° panorama.
For the less trained, halfway up, a good arrival point is the Casera Morareto with Agriturismo.
Casera Morareto is a charming agritourism with grazing livestock, surrounded by green pastures and wonderful varieties of flowers (gentians, rhododentrons, ... ) land of many marmots.
Rifugio Giovani and Olinto Marinelli is the highest alpine refuge in Friuli Venezia Giulia located at 2,120 m above sea level near Forcella Moraret.
Built in 1901, it has been modified and expanded several times. The most recent renovation was in 2001 and resulted in a structure with 50 beds and a terrace with a magnificent panoramic view.
Rifugio Marinelli is a base for numerous hikes for the more experienced:
- to Mount Coglians (2,780 m) by the common EE route
- to the Creta delle Chianevate (2,769 m) with I and II grade passages
- to the Cima di Mezzo (2,713 m) EE
- to the Coglians Pillar (2,750 m) EE

For the winter/spring months use crampons, snowshoes or mountaineering skis as needed but BEWARE OF THE AVALANCHE BOLLET.
For added safety go no further than Casera Morareto and always consult the weather and avalanche bulletin.
If it happens to be a particularly hot and sunny summer day, it is advisable to leave early so as not to be at noon on the upper part of the trail where the sun beats down (from Casera Morareto to Marinelli is all in the sun)
From regional road 355, at the village of Forni Avoltri, turn towards Collina ( 7 km) pass the village and continue for 2 km more until you reach the large parking lot at Rigugio Tolazzi where the paved road ends.

In summer no special equipment is needed, for the cold months appropriate clothing for temperature changes and specific equipment.
