A simple path through a majestic beech forest leads to the foot of the Rio Barman waterfall, visible in all its wild beauty in a fairy-tale setting. The upper part of the north slope of the Musi, karst in nature, collects much of the precipitation that drains to the base either by flowing in surface streams in the very steep gullies or through underground cavities and tunnels, which give rise to many springs. The most important and impressive is the striking Fontanone Barman.
The water comes out of numerous resurgences; on the vertical rock walls that close in a semicircle like a well, a series of thunderous waterfalls are formed, with a total drop of 70 m. The crystal-clear waters go on to form a blue pond carved out of the rock that offers a beautiful sight and has inspired Resian fairy tales and legends. From here the Rio Barman springs up, which runs along a narrow valley, and after a short journey flows into the Resia stream.
Highly recommended is a visit to the nearby (by car) Carnizza saddle, among the most isolated locations in the valley and where you can enjoy typical Resian specialties.
