Description
On Tuesday, August 18, starting at 10:00 PM—building on last year’s huge success—Piazza Unità d’Italia will once again serve as the stunning backdrop for one of the city’s most anticipated Ferragosto events. The evening will be illuminated not by traditional fireworks, but by a breathtaking display of light choreography over the sea, creating a unique and evocative atmosphere.
The Show: 1,000 Drones, 14 Choreographed Sequences, and a Soundtrack
The theme of the 2026 edition will once again spotlight Trieste and the summer season, brought to life through a spectacular and evocative performance. Fourteen three-dimensional visual scenes will take shape in the sky above the San Giusto Basin, taking the audience on an exciting journey through the city’s iconic symbols—from the Bora wind to San Giusto Castle—and capturing the unmistakable energy of the sea and summer. One thousand high-precision illuminated drones will take off simultaneously to perform their aerial maneuvers above the San Giusto Basin. The prime viewing spot for the show will once again be Piazza Unità d’Italia, where a dedicated sound system will be set up to accompany the light choreography with a perfectly synchronized soundtrack.
Should adverse weather conditions (specifically rain or strong winds) prevent the show from taking place as scheduled on Tuesday, August 18, two potential make-up dates have already been selected: Tuesday, September 8, and Friday, September 11, maintaining the same times and format.
