L’inconsueta festa è nata per ricordare, e soprattutto far conoscere alle ultime generazioni ed ai turisti, uno dei più diffusi fra gli antichi lavori della montagna carnica, ovvero la fienagione in montagna, dalla falciatura dell’erba alla composizione di grandi covoni di fieno. Un compito che era appannaggio principalmente del mondo femminile e che verrà riproposto da gruppi di donne di Sutrio vestite con gli abiti tradizionali, affiancate da uomini e bambini, pure in costume.
