Critical presentation by Franco Rosso
"SINTESI CERAMICA" is the title of the exhibition by artist Lorella Veglia, which opens on Friday, September 12th at 6:00 PM at the Edilarea exhibition space at Via Ghega 2/G in Trieste, with a critical presentation by Franco Rosso. A professor of Visual Arts at the United World College in Duino, Lorella Veglia graduated from the Umberto Nordio Art Institute in Trieste and began her artistic and exhibition career in 1985. The medium chosen to express her creative expression is ceramic art, which offers her ample scope for creative and sculptural development, as well as for experimenting with the use of diverse materials in a research that seeks to transcend classical conventions to favor organic representations inspired by nature. Over the years, he has participated in numerous exhibitions, obtaining prizes and awards, and has collaborated with the artist Emanuela Marassi on ceramic works in some of her artistic exhibitions. "Earth and fire, formidable tools offered by nature," writes Franco Rosso in the introduction, "are the reference elements that underlie Lorella's work. Through ceramic art, magical and alchemical in itself, she creates with her hands and mind her objects, the fruit of experimentation, form, clay, and glazes. Boxes that open and close (even turtles) are created from scratch to arrive at the finished work in a long and patient creation process that sees the artist control the entire process, leading to a unique outcome similar to nature's production. The boxes, decorated with a chromatic symphony that combines form and design in allusive and symbolic visualizations, sometimes borrowing Chinese ideograms, speak of the artist's desire to communicate sensations and emotions, to metaphorically open or close herself through the lids of the boxes, but they also speak of the search for stimuli to enrich thoughts and reflections. It is a creative process that is staged through a necessarily rigorous and even painstaking elaboration, which transforms the clay into an object. Precious and unique, it must take into account the imperative of ceramic art, which demands a quality of time spent that is different from everyday life, looking towards an ideal horizon of beauty and spirituality.
