From 20 to 25 August, the Festival dei cuori® returns, one of the most established summer events in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, celebrating its 56th edition this year.
Founded in 1965 by Vittorio Gritti, it is the oldest folklore festival in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Listed in the international festival calendar and affiliated with CIOFF® (International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts), the festival brings together traditional music, dance and cultural heritage from around the world.
The 2026 edition will feature folk groups from Argentina, Colombia, Guinea-Bissau, Easter Island, Ukraine and Italy, offering six days of performances and cultural exchange.
The festival opens on Thursday, 20 August, in Bovec, Slovenia. The official opening ceremony will take place on Friday, 21 August, at Via Dante Park in Gemona del Friuli, while the Grand Folklore Gala will be held on Saturday, 22 August, at the Garzoni Theatre in Tricesimo.
On Sunday, 23 August, Gemona will host the traditional parade through the historic town centre, a Mass in the Cathedral followed by performances in the church square, and the Friendship Evening in Borgo del Ponte. After a second event in Bovec, the festival will conclude on Tuesday, 25 August, at 9:00 pm, with the final performance in Via Dante Park.
