Dopo la stagionatura, avvenuta durante i mesi estivi nelle malghe della Carnia (montagna intatta del Friuli Venezia Giulia) in settembre i formaggi vengono portati a valle e venduti nei caseifici.
Questa tradizione centenaria viene festeggiata con la Mostra mercato del formaggio e della ricotta di malga.
Gastronomia tipica sotto al tendone, musica e intrattenimenti.
