A route in Friuli Venezia Giulia exploring the hills, vineyards, and rural villages.
The itinerary follows the route of the charity race "Race for Haiti".
The route starts from Cividale del Friuli, a ducal city and UNESCO heritage site, boasting treasures such as the Cathedral and the Longobard Temple. The first part of the loop follows the natural course of the Natisone river, a perfect travel companion. It passes through rural villages where agriculture and waterways are the main protagonists, surrounded by countryside, woods, and hills. Arriving in Tarcento, known as the "Pearl of Friuli" and the junction between the Torre Valley and the foothill area of the Julian Prealps, you can see Villa Moretti and the tower of Coia Castle. The route continues through the hilly area renowned for producing great wines like Ramandolo, towards Nimis where the ancient Pieve dei Santi Gervasio e Protasio stands. To return to Cividale del Friuli, the route descends through vineyards to Bottenicco di Moimacco, where in the distance dominates Villa dei Claricini with its Italian-style gardens.
