Circulate route of Val Saisera (R032)

These places were the scene of World War I and still hide the remains of many shelters and trenches that for years were bloodily contested between Alpini and Kaiserjäger.
From the Ugovizza-Valbruna station, cycling briefly on the FVG1 cycle path towards Tarvisio, you reach the crossroads where the route starts crossing the small alpine village of Valbruna. After passing the village, continue on an internal road and then on dirt roads. Along the trail you will encounter the war cemetery and several visitable Austro-Hungarian military works, some characteristic farmhouses and shelters, and the precious and rare "resonance" firs, highly sought after for the making of stringed instruments. At the end of the loop you reach Malga Saisera and the Florit Chapel, starting point for the ascent, on foot or mountain bike, towards the Grego shelter and the slopes of Montasio. The return to Valbruna station takes place on a partly alternative route to the outward journey.
