Loop route along the Gerometta Path and Col Cornier: views over the Veneto-Friuli plain and exceptional blooms that transform the mountain into a lush garden.
From the Piancavallo infopoint, turn right onto Via Barcis up to the Hotel 1301 Inn. Near the hotel, take the service road that runs alongside the football fields and continue to Casera Capovilla. Enter the CAI trail 924. After 300 meters, with a sharp right turn, the ascent begins. Alongside the trail, you can spot a couple of large, old charcoal pits. Higher up, the forest gives way to meadows and broad views of Piancavallo and the Veneto-Friuli plain.
You reach the junction with the Gerometta Path CAI 993. The route leads, with gentle ups and downs, to Baita Arneri. From early June to late August, the numerous blooms turn the mountain into a flourishing garden. From late July to early August, you can admire the flowering of the rare Campanula thyrsoide.
From Baita Arneri, continue on path CAI 993 until the junction with CAI 992 for Col Cornier. The trail reaches the summit of Col Cornier. Here, you can observe distinct karst phenomena with alternating deep sinkholes and mysterious swallow holes. From the summit of Col Cornier, you can enjoy an extraordinary panorama. Proceed towards Forcella del Sauc, keep to the right, and follow the CAI signage.
The forest is enriched with various species of plants and flowers, including Aquilegia einseleana. Continue along the Charcoal Makers' Path CAI 992 until you reach Piazzale della Puppa.
