Beautiful route touching two mountain huts used as bivouacs (Casera Podestine and Casera Caserata) through some of the most exemplary environments of the Friulian Dolomites.
From Pian de Cea (Claut) we descend to the ford and begin to follow the endless Grave da Giere on trail 376, heading north (we have two options: to follow either the left or right side of the dry riverbed; the environment changes regularly, so there are no permanent trail markers).
When we see, on the left, the pillar of a weather monitoring station, we begin to turn left to climb onto the low "bank," where we find the trace of an old cart track. We thus arrive at the base of Casera Podestine (1024 m, reachable in a few steps).
From here, we follow trail 368 which briefly follows the course of the Ciol de la Frata until the point where we must cross on rocks. We begin to climb the wooded slope of Monte Caserine Basse, initially with effort. The trail gradually becomes less steep, passes some crumbly gullies, and reaches the faintly visible Forcella Caserata (1505 m). Casera Caserata (1479 m) is located before the pass, lower down; it is an always open shelter.
The return is by the same route.

Along the Grave di Giere, pay attention to the landscape: the environment changes regularly, so there are no permanent trail markers.
There is only one somewhat "exposed" point during the route, between the two huts: it involves crossing a compact scree field via a narrow path. It is only a few steps, to be done without hesitation.
Standard hiking equipment.
