The Path of San Cristoforo is an emotional journey in western Friuli, divided into three routes crossing the Pedemontana, the Magredi, and the Val Meduna.
The first route of the Path of San Cristoforo crosses the evocative area of the Pedemontana, where hills merge with the plain offering breathtaking views.
The Pedemontana Route stretches between the Livenza and Tagliamento rivers, characterizing western Friuli. The Livenza is the bridge between the Venetian and Friulian areas, while the Tagliamento is the quintessential watercourse of Friuli, the last wild river in Europe, free to flow and shape the lands around it.
In this setting, a mosaic of shapes, colors, culture, flavors, and stories unfolds, intertwined and overlapping. The Pedemontana, a ridge accompanying the traveler along the route, rises like a wall that, instead of closing the view, expands it over ever-changing hills and mountains, dotted with villages and hamlets that have adapted to its valleys, streams, and now so wild flora.
A route that unfolds between the waters of the Livenza and the Tagliamento. The Tagliamento is the most important river of Friuli-Venezia Giulia with a length of 170 km; considered the only one in the entire Alpine arc to preserve the original braided channel morphology, for this feature it is also called the King of Alpine rivers.
