Ragogna
Ragogna lies in the Friuli Collinare area and provides one of the most beautiful views over the amphitheatre of the morainic hills. It is enriched by the course of the Tagliamento river (which here features one of its most charming stretches), by the mount of Muris and by a glacial lake, where you will still find water caltrops, water lilies and buttercups. Ragogna is an excellent starting point for hikes along paths in the surrounding woods, as well as on the mount that dominates the town.
Don't miss a visit to the castle and to St. Peter's Parish Church (11th century) and to the Jewish cemetery near the homonymous lake.
From the Castle go up the Via al Monte (the road leading to the mount) to enjoy a breathtaking view over the Tagliamento river until reaching the Alpine soldiers' church of San Giovanni in Monte.
Moreover, the territory of Ragogna is connected to the crucial events of the First World War; today it is possible to follow interesting panoramic routes (equipped with explanatory panels) and in the town centre you will find a museum dedicated to that period.
For a relaxing day, the banks of the Tagliamento river (in the locality of Tabile) are the ideal place for plunging into unspoilt nature. A park provides shady green areas for pleasant picnics.
